From February 15, 2026, LAID BUG will present “Chain and ask,” a solo exhibition by Hikaru Takata. This exhibition is the latter installment of “00:00,” a relay exhibition held as part of the Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions – Regional Partnership Program.

Hikaru Takata is an artist who works across various media—including photography, video, performance, and installation—while engaging with records of urban exploration and fieldwork, as well as the personal memories and introspection that accompany those experiences. Takata has previously exhibited works at the Ichihara Lakeside Museum (2018 / Ichihara, Chiba), HAITSU (2021 / Nishi-Ogikubo, Tokyo), LAID BUG (2023, 2024 / Daikanyama, Tokyo), HVW8 Gallery (2024 / Berlin, Germany), and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (2025 / Kanazawa, Ishikawa).

In this exhibition, Takata presents a reconfigured installation version of “Chain and Ask (2023),” a work developed from ongoing fieldwork and focused on bicycle locks that have been forgotten on city guardrails. We warmly invite you to view this exhibition.

“I direct my thoughts toward time that has passed. Everything passes away; outside of myself, countless ‘nows’ pass by, are forgotten, and disappear. People I have never met, and their memories, times, and spaces. Urban spaces are managed and controlled, and at a dizzying speed they relentlessly erase and overwrite such sentiments. Yet precisely because of this, traces of others are left behind here and there, in small and trivial ways. By attempting to collaborate with such objects, I connect to and recall those times, spaces, and unknown others. At each moment, through every possible methodology.”

2026년 2월 15일부터 LAID BUG에서는 타카타 히카루의 솔로 전시 Chain and ask 를 개최합니다. 본 전시는 에비스 영상제 지역 연계 프로그램의 일환으로 진행되는 릴레이 전시 〈00:00〉의 후기 전시에 해당합니다.

타카타 히카루는 도시 탐험과 필드워크의 기록, 그리고 그 경험에 수반되는 개인적인 기억과 내면적 성찰을 바탕으로 사진, 영상, 퍼포먼스, 설치 등 다양한 매체를 활용해 작업하는 아티스트입니다. 지금까지 이치하라 호반 미술관(2018 / 치바·이치하라), HAITSU(2021 / 도쿄·니시오기쿠보), LAID BUG(2023, 2024 / 도쿄·다이칸야마), HVW8 Gallery(2024 / 독일·베를린), 21세기 미술관(2025 / 이시카와·카나자와) 등에서 작품을 발표해 왔습니다.

이번 전시에서는 타카타가 일상적으로 진행해 온 필드워크를 바탕으로, 도시의 가드레일에 방치된 자전거 자물쇠에 주목한 Chain and Ask (2023)를 재구성한 설치 작품을 선보입니다. 이 기회에 꼭 관람해 주시기 바랍니다.

“지나간 시간에 마음을 기울인다. 모든 것은 지나가고, 나의 바깥에서 셀 수 없이 많은 ‘지금’들이 스쳐 지나가며 망각된다. 만나지 못한 누군가와 그 기억들, 시간과 공간들. 도시적 장소는 관리와 통제 속에 있으며, 그러한 감상마저도 현기증이 날 만큼 빠른 속도로 끊임없이 지워지고 다시 덧칠된다. 그러나 그렇기 때문에 오히려 이곳저곳에, 사소한 형태로 타인의 흔적이 남겨진 채 방치되어 있다. 나는 그러한 대상들과의 협업을 시도함으로써, 그 시간과 공간, 그리고 만나지 못한 타자에게 접속하고 이를 소환한다. 그때그때, 가능한 모든 방법론을 통해.”
