2025年10月10日より、LAID BUGにて、イ・ウンジによるソロエキシビジョンを開催します。

イ・ウンジは、韓国・ソウルを拠点に活動する写真家です。フィルムカメラで日常を記録し、暗室でプリントするまでの時間的ギャップを通じて、新たに認識した記憶の痕跡を再構成し、作品を制作しています。時にはプリントした写真を解体し、異なるイメージを重ね、フィルムに意図的にダメージを与えるといった行為を通じて、「写真は記憶を記録できるか？」という問いを探究しています。

2023年から2024年にかけて、写真に特化したアートブックを出版しているDatz Pressでグラフィックデザイナーとして勤務していたウンジは、制作のプロセスを本という媒体に落とし込み、再構成する取り組みも行なっています。2024年には視覚芸術や空間デザインなど、様々な分野で活動するアーティスト達とともに、出版を中中心としたアート・コレクティブ「Ghi-Cha（汽車）」を結成。協働してアートブックを制作し、日本や韓国で開催されているブックフェアを中心に発表しています。

ウンジの日本初個展となる本展では、これまでの日常生活で見たり感じたりした記憶をもとに、現在と過去の狭間で漂う記憶と記録を探究する作品群を発表します。本展ではこれまで制作したアートブックも2冊販売予定。「記憶と記録」という問いを通じて、写真表現の可能性に真摯に向き合うウンジの眼差しに触れられる貴重な機会となります。是非ご高覧ください。

“暗室で写真を現像しているとき、砂浜で手にしていた石のイメージが浮かんだ。海に磨かれた石の滑らかで冷たく重い塊を手に感じながら、その写真を撮ったことを思い出した。おそらく記憶していたのは石そのものではなく、それを握っていた感覚だった。かつて私は写真が自分の見たもの感じたものを完全に保存できると思っていたが、結局それは被写体の外見に過ぎなかったのだ。”

From October 10, 2025, LAID BUG will present a solo exhibition by Eunjee Lee.

Eunjee Lee is a photographer based in Seoul, South Korea. She documents daily life with a film camera, reconstructing newly recognized traces of memory through the temporal gap until printing in the darkroom.At times, she deconstructs printed photographs, layers different images, and intentionally damages film, exploring the question: “Can photography record memory?”

From 2023 to 2024, Eunjee worked as a graphic designer at Datz Press, a publisher specializing in art books focused on photography. She also undertakes efforts to translate and reconstruct her creative process into the medium of the book. In 2024, she co-founded the art collective “Ghi-Cha” with artists active in various fields including visual arts and spatial design. They collaboratively produce art books, presenting them primarily at book fairs held in Japan and Korea.

This exhibition marks Eunjee's first solo show in Japan. It presents a body of work that explores memories and records drifting between the present and the past, based on what she has seen and felt in daily life. Two art books will also be available for purchase at the exhibition. It offers a valuable opportunity to encounter Eunjee's earnest gaze as she sincerely confronts the possibilities of photographic expression through the question of “memory and record.” We sincerely hope you will attend.

“While developing photographs in the darkroom, I came across an image of the stone I once held in my hand on the sandy shore. I remembered taking the picture as I felt the smooth, cold, heavy mass of a stone shaped by the sea in my hand. Maybe what I remembered was not the stone itself but the sensation of holding it. I used to think that photography could fully preserve what I saw and felt, but in the end, it only resembled the outer appearance of the subject.”

2025년 10월 10일부터, LAID BUG에서 이은지의 첫 솔로 전시를 개최합니다.

이은지는 한국 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 사진가입니다. 필름 카메라로 일상을 기록하고, 암실에서 인화하는 시간적 간극을 통해 새롭게 인식된 기억의 흔적을 재구성하여 작품을 만듭니다. 때로는 인화된 사진을 해체하고, 서로 다른 이미지를 겹치거나 필름에 의도적으로 손상을 주는 등의 행위를 통해, “사진은 기억을 기록할 수 있는가?”라는 주제를 탐구합니다.

2023년부터 2024년에 걸쳐 사진에 특화된 아트북을 출판하는 닻프레스에서 그래픽 디자이너로 근무했던 이은지는, 자신의 작업을 책이라는 매체로 풀어내어 재구성하는 작업도 병행하고 있습니다. 2024년에는 시각예술, 공간디자인 등 여러 분야에서 활동하는 아티스트들과 기차 (汽車) 라는 아트 콜렉티브를 결성했습니다. 함께 아트북을 제작하여, 일본 및 한국에서 열리는 북 페어를 중심으로 활동하고 있습니다.

본 전시는 이은지의 일본 첫 개인전으로, 그간 일상생활에서 보고 느낀 기억을 바탕으로 현재와 과거 사이에 떠도는 기억과 기록을 탐구하는 작품군을 선보입니다.이번 전시에서는 지금까지 제작한 아트북 두 권도 함께 선보일 예정입니다. “기억과 기록”이라는 물음을 통해 사진 표현의 가능성에 진지하게 마주하는 이은지의 시선을 느낄 수 있는 귀중한 기회입니다. 부디 많은 관람 부탁드립니다.

“암실에서 사진을 인화하다가 모래사장에서 손에 올려두었던 돌 사진을 보았다. 바다에서 깎인 돌의 매끄럽고 차가운, 묵직한 덩어리의 감각이 손에 느껴졌을 때 그것을 찍었던 기억이다. 아마도 나는 그 돌 자체보다는 그것을 손에 쥐었던 감각을 기억하고 있었다. 사진은 내가 본 것과 느낀 것을 온전히 기록해 줄 것 같았지만 결국 피사체의 겉모습만 닮을 뿐이었다.”
